feeding my soul

on my second, wait, third trip. on my third trip down to eugene, oregon. i FINALLY got to eat at papa's soul food!! i had been waiting impatiently to eat here for 3 weeks!! i had heard it was the best southern food place to eat in eugene, and seeing as i have never eaten southern food before my excitement to try it was at an all time high!

let me tell you this first off, the one thing i like most about eugene is that it is very much a college town, which also means it is very eclectic. it definitely has a lot of different eateries to offer the many different palates out there. i love the little shops and the homey atmosphere the town has. papa's soul food restaurant only added to the eclectic aspect of this town...

i love the smoker in the back^_^

the house, turned restaurant, also has a deck for when the weather is warm. unfortunately, if you can't already tell by the picture, the weather wasn't very nice at all. so i took my food back to my hotel. i wanted to enjoy it while i watched the playoffs...when got there i couldn't wait to dig in!

pork bbq ribs, macaroni and cheese, red beans and rice, and corn bread...i was in heaven. if you ever make it to eugene, oregon you would be crazy not to make a stop at papa's soul food.

the first bite...

reece's peanut butter cup brownies^_^

for me, the first bite into a brownie is the most important part. is it crunchy on the outside? warm and fudgey on the inside? is it too cakey? will i want to spit it out? a random thought, i know, but seeing as this is my first blog i figured it was like the first bite into a brownie...and i also just made brownies the other day. three different kinds: peanut butter cup(an ode to my friend rizzo), pecan (because i had left over from the oatmeal choc. chip cookies), and plain(because classic is always nice). back to this being the first, well, i thought that seeing as this is my first i should give you a taste of what this is all about. basically, i love food! if you know me at all i love to cook, i love to eat and i love to talk about food. to me, food plays such an important role in the making of who we are, a little cliche, i know! but, i really believe that the many different kinds of food you expose yourself to broadens the kind of person you become. so, if you want ideas about where to eat, what to make, or just want to see what i'm cooking stick around...
